That Summer Tournament 7 – August 11-12

Visit TST.CHIPDAMAGE.COM for full info!

That Summer Tournament, better known as TST is Chip Damage’s biggest annual tournament we hold in August and have been for the last several years. Our roots are strong, comprised of our great community that has supported us through the thick and thin. But, this year, we are pushing it even further, making TST7 our biggest tournament to date. Bigger venue, more games, more prizes, more everything!

TST7 will NOT be taking place at the UofM as we have a NEW venue. Also, the event WILL be streamed all of Saturday and Sunday with the possibility of CDC Radio doing their 40th episode live! Be sure to follow us over at TWITCH.TV.

We got more good news!
TST 7 is an official Canada Cup 2012 Team Canada Wildcard Qualifier! The qualifier will be part of the AE2012 tournament that is happening at TST 7. This is open to Canadian players only.

If you win our AE2012 tournament, you qualify for the Wildcard 4 man tournament that will take place at Canada Cup on Oct 26th-28th in Calgary, AB. If you win THAT tournament, you will earn the 5th spot on Team Canada in the Canada Cup International 5v5 team tournament! Also, 50% of your plane ticket will be covered by CCG themselves!

Be aware that the Team Canada roster is comprised of 5 players with no character duplicates. This means if another qualifier tournament has run and a player using your character has already qualified, this automatically disqualifies the ability for the winning character to be used by anyone else. As CCG.Air is Team Captain, RYU is already locked. If a player using an already qualified character wins, the qualifying spot will be passed on to the next eligible placing player.

Just when you thought this couldn’t get any more hyped, we got word down the grapevine that there may be a little somethin’ somethin’ from Winnipeg’s very own Strata Studios! Our lips are sealed… just be sure to stick around, even when all the games are said and done.

As promised. This year’s TST will be taking place outside the UofM. It has been confirmed for Canad Inns on Pembina by the Tavern if you’re familiar. Here’s the full address and the room number:

FOCUSattack Episode 3: Baselan 17

After a long wait, the next episode of FOCUSattack has finally arrived. This time around, we give insight into one of the biggest gaming events/LAN parties of the year, Baselan 17, hosted by AYB(AllYourBase). Of course Chip Damage was also there to host the games we are known best for, Street Fighter IV and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The event was a pretty big hit, with plenty of returning players as well as plenty of spectators amazed at our skill to mash buttons.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this event, so a few others part of the scene, Bishop(John) & vbits(Henry) filmed most of the footage caught in this episode. As well as ShinAkuma(Shane) and his company, “The Edge of Imagination” made it possible to capture every moment of tournament footage from both games.

Along with game footage, a few interviews are introduced throughout the episode. Be sure to check back in our media section sometime soon where the rest of the interviews will be added. You can also check out all the tournament footage from both Street Fighter IV and Melee in our media section.

Also, special thanks goes out to ShmickMusic.com for letting us use some of his amazing music throughout the episode.

So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show and expect more announcements in the near future of when and where FOCUSattack Episode 4 will happen. Also, you may want to watch all until the end, as there may be a bit of a surprise.

Fight for the Future 2 – NOVEMBER 22

Click here for directions to this event.

ChipDamage.com is proud to present Fight for the Future 2: Revived, a fund-raising fighting games tournament for a local charity, the Children’s Hospital.

Well, the first Fight for the Future II got canned, simply because of time and scheduling. So here’s the revival of it. This will be a fund-raising tournament, with most of the entry fees going towards a local charity yet to be decided on. The first one was a pretty good success since we raised 200 dollars from just 5 tournaments. This year, we’re hoping to raise a bit more with support from other players from around the nation/world.

Fight for the Future 2 Details:

Games:
Super Smash Bros. Melee: 2:00pm
Capcom vs. SNK2: 2:00pm
Super Street Fighter Turbo (HD-Remix if it’s out): 4:00pm
Street Fighter 3 – 3rd Strike: 6:00pm
Sould Calibur IV: 7:00pm

Location: Armes Building Science Lounge

Date: Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Entry to the venue is free. Entry per game is $5.00. If you pay for 3 tournaments ($15.00), you may enter a 4th free of charge.

The prize structure will be different as we will be doing a raffle and will have only 3 prizes for the 5 tournaments. It will go as follows:
Everyone who enters will get a predetermined amount of tickets for entering. The more games entered the more tickets they’ll receive. The more matches you win will earn you more tickets. You may then distribute your tickets amongst the prizes that will be available. This way, everyone will get a chance to win when we draw out the prizes. Prizes will most likely be something along the lines of gift cards from EB (Electronics Boutique), Futureshop, or something along those lines. If you do not wish to wait until the drawing occurs, be sure to leave your contact info and we’ll try to find a way to get the prize to you.

Drinks will be sold and proceeds will go to the charity as well.
