Madden ’11 Tournament @ Play N Trade, August 21, 2010 – Korea

I went down to the local Play N Trade that just opened up like a month ago for the first time today. It was a small little place that was about the size of the Kenaston EB, if not bigger. It is family owned by a Filipino family and they seemed really nice. Although I was talking to the kids and one employee. There was one older gentleman who kinda sat in the back looking all gruff, I'm assuming it is the father of the two kids there. Anyways, they came up to me asking if I played Madden. Now being a fighting game fan, I kindly told them I don't, but I do play them fight games. The boy tells me that they are holding a Madden 2011 Tournament

That Summer Tournament 5 – August 14th and 15th @ Sci Lounge, UofM

TST 5, what does it stand for? It stands for "That Summer Tournament", the 5th one in the time we've been operating the scene in Winnipeg. This year is going to be one of the biggest tournaments that Winnipeg will see, with games such as Super Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. With returns of old games like Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Capcom vs. SNK 2 (Really??!!). We're also gonna feature a 2v2 Super Street Fighter IV teams tournament.

Word on the street was that Saskatchewan was coming down to invade and potentially take our money away from us. Although, will Shane (ShinAkuma204) or BMike (KillaSasa/KillaBMike) allow this to take place? Will Graeme Howard (TheTimelyHoward) put a roadblock to those coming from the west? Will James Kim (Korea) take money from Saskatoon's supposed best player? This and a province vs. province 5v5 will take place at TST5!

Now there is also word of some Money Matches happening at TST5. One being the big grudge match between James Kim and Graeme Howard. They will feature a first to 7 match for $50, thus taking the title for Biggest Money Match in Chipdamage history. Another will be BMike taking challengers in old school games such as Killer Instinct and Fighter's Destiny for the SNES and Nintendo 64, respectively. This will be one hell of an event.

Evo questionaire

Before they went off to compete the worlds biggest Fighting game tournament I asked the evo goers a few questions. Unfortunatly not everyone answered but here are the ones who did

What games are you planning to enter? (Official or not)

Fstrike: SSF4

Pak-man: I only intend to enter Super Street Fighter 4 officially. Should a side tourney grab my attention, I'll give it a shot.

Korea: Super SFIV, TvC

Shinakuma: SSF4. That's it.

JayseR: Super Street Fighter IV. Pretty much the only fighting game I play. I'm a one game sorta guy. Gonna be mad hype!

Kang: SSFIV, T6, HDR. Focusing mostly on Super. I only entered T6 for the heck of it and haven't been practicing it. HDR because it's ST

The Day is Finally Here, We Leave for Evo!!! – Korea

So this is it. The day is finally here. We've waited a long time for this moment, a big group, heading out to Evolution 2010. I just want to say that I'm glad I'm going with you guys, and I'm glad my girlfriend agreed to come as well. I'm also glad to hear that Jayse is actually coming with us, but screwed up the hotel group numbers!

This (Jul. 6 2010) morning we found out what pools we were in for the tournament. We pretty much have at least 2 other Canadians or another person from the city in our pools, as well as some very heavy hitters. For example, Tyler is in pool A, he has Daigo, John Choi, Mr. Wiz, LPN, UTJ, Keno, DS, Bustabust, Magus1234. I'm

4 Days Left Til Vegas! – Korea

Yes, I'm fully aware that I skipped 5, but I was sick and I couldn't think of a topic to do, and I was out and about too, by the time I got home, it was already 4 days left. So with a few days left I'm going to make a checklist of things you should make sure to bring. I'll probably list it in categories for simplicity. Here goes:

Hygiene

- Toothbrush
- Tooth Paste
- Floss if you really want
- Deodorant or anti persperant

- Soap and Shampoo are provided in little bottles at the hotel.

Evo Tournament

- Your stick (preferably in a bag)
- Console and cables if you're bringing one
- The games you wanna play

7 Days Left Til Vegas! – Korea

One week, that's all that is left. Do what you have to do before you leave! Don't forget to grab your US cash, Passports, whatever you need to get across that border of ours.

With only 7 days left, who couldn't be hyped?

So here's some things you should know about the airports and stuff. Most of this is common sense, especially if you've gone on trips before.

1. Make sure you are at the airport early. Like an hour and a half is probably the minimum you wanna be there. Especially if you're going to the USA. Obvious reason for that is due to customs and security. We don't want you to miss your flight or be held up and crap. That would be uber crappy

8 Days Left Til Vegas! – Korea

So welcome back to the "x amount of Days Left Til Vegas" miniseries of posts. Last time I told you what to expect from Evolution, the tournament, now this time I'll tell you about Vegas, as it's quite a city. While this trip is mostly for Evo, sometimes we just gotta get out of the city and relax a little, gamble a bit, shop til we drop, and eat until we can't eat anymore. So some things to look out for in Vegas.

1. The Atmosphere - Day or Night, the strip is crazy packed (except in the very morning since people are hung over and such). It's the desert, it's fucking dry heat that's going to hit your skin. While this is something you're usually not hyped about

9 Days Left Til Vegas! – Korea

That's right, it's only 9 days left until the Winnipeg crew heads out to Vegas for the biggest fighting game championships of the world, Evolution 2010. I honestly don't think I have ever seen everyone so excited about something. Not even the announcements of the new characters and Super Street Fighter IV brought this much excitement/hype. If you want to know what to expect from Evo, well I can give you a few things.

1. Madness - This is the one thing that you'll be hit by when you first enter the room during pools/semis/finals. It is just awesome up close and live. When you come back to Winnipeg, you'll just be like, nothing compares to the hype and excitement as it was at Evo.

2. Lack of
